The short version: EnergyRanked is free for homeowners. When we match you with an installer and they take on your enquiry, that installer pays us a fee. Fees never affect your price, and they never affect how any company ranks.
How the matching actually works
We independently score thousands of UK installers on public, verifiable signals — MCS accreditation, Companies House standing, years trading, and review volume and quality. Our scoring methodology is public, and no company can pay to improve its score. Ever.
When you request a quote, we match you with one partner installer covering your postcode — never a list of firms bidding for your details, and your details are never sold on. That partner relationship is a commercial one: partners pay us for the introduction. We say this plainly because most quote sites don’t.
What it takes to be a partner installer
We only match homeowners with partner installers who meet our standard: current MCS certification (or the equivalent accreditation for their trade), a clean Companies House record, a verifiable trading history, and a review record that meets our ranking threshold. If a firm doesn’t meet the standard, we don’t match it — whatever it’s willing to pay.
What the fee never buys
It never buys a better score in our directory. It never changes the price you’re quoted — you pay the installer the same as if you’d walked in off the street. And it never buys access to your details beyond the single installer you’re matched with: one enquiry, one firm, one call.
Why we run it this way
Most comparison sites sell each enquiry to several companies at once, which is why filling in one form can mean a week of cold calls. We think the better product — for you and for good installers — is one well-made match, honestly disclosed. If you ever feel a match fell short of this standard, tell us at info@energyranked.com and we’ll look at it personally.
