Review volume is limited at present. Ask Use Solar for two or three customer references from their last 6 months of work; reputable installers will provide them. A small review count isn't disqualifying for a newer firm, but you should expect to see recent project photos.

Most reputable UK installers — including most London-area firms — offer a free desktop survey followed by a paid or no-cost roof inspection. Use Solar's specific policy isn't published on EnergyRanked; ask when you make initial contact (their website usesolar.co.uk is a useful starting point). A red flag would be any installer quoting without ever physically seeing the roof or property.

Search 'find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk' for the trading name. Look at incorporation date, current status (Active vs Liquidation/Dissolved), most recent accounts filing, and director list. A long-trading limited company with up-to-date accounts is a safer signal than a recently incorporated firm.

Current UK support includes 0% VAT on residential solar PV and battery installs (HMRC zero-rating until at least 2027), the Smart Export Guarantee paying for exported electricity, and — for heat pumps — the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (England/Wales) or Home Energy Scotland Grant + Loan (Scotland). Eligibility depends on the property and the install. Confirm with Use Solar which apply before signing.
